Project 5 – Logos

EleThompson-P5Logos

Description

This week we were tasked with creating logos using Adobe Illustrator. We could choose any business or topic to design our logo for.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills)

The longest part of this process for me was the “formulate” section of the design process. I decided I wanted to do a logo for a website I’m creating and I spent several days drawing out different designs that might work for a logo. I then went to work using Illustrator drawing out elements using the pen tool and I played around with different fonts and sizing. I also chose a color scheme and after getting some feedback about three of the designs I had created, I refined one of them.

Message

The logo I created is for a blog I’m creating called “Watch Me Crossfit” for my B 250 class. We had to create a website for my class that would be an online business so I decided to create a blog and use affiliate marketing as well as advertising to generate revenue. The topic of my blog is my personal experiences starting Crossfit and different reviews of fitness related products.

Audience

The audience for my logo and website is people interested in trying Crossfit as well as those already a part of the Crossfit community.

Top Thing Learned

The top thing that I learned was that the simpler the logo, the better. By abstracting different shapes or by using simple symbols you can create memorable logos. I also learned that the typeface you use in your logo can be just as important as the images you use.

Color Scheme and Color Names

My color scheme consists of blue and red. The hexidecimal color codes are:

Red #ED1C24

Blue #2E3192

Title / Body Font Names & Categories

Proxima Nova, Sans serif

FatFrank,  Sans serif
