Description
This is the flyer that I created using Adobe InDesign for COMM 130. We were tasked with creating a black and white flyer design for a leadership conference for college seniors.
Process
I created this flyer using the Adobe InDesign software and the text, logo and images were provided by our teacher. I started by creating several sketches of design ideas that I had. I then chose one of those drawings and started to create it on the computer. I ended up modifying my sketch somewhat based on my familiarity with the software and I played around with moving different elements on the page. I started with my title and I liked the full-width look of the title and I tried to continue that horizontal, full-width shape in the rest of the flyer. Based on feedback that I got in my critiques I switched the body text and the image to create more balance to the page and to break up the text. I also moved the logo to the bottom right corner to create a little more white space on the page and to allow the body text to continue the full-width rhythm of the rest of the page. I also aligned everything to the width of the “Graduate Leadership” text and left aligned the body text.
Message
The message I was trying to convey was that there is a conference for graduates that would help them with their future careers.
Audience
My audience is senior college students who will be graduating soon.
Top Thing Learned
I think the best thing I learned was how to use the four-step critique process and how truly effective it is to have several sets of eyes see your work and provide feedback. There were a couple things on my flyer that I wasn’t too sure about and my reviewers either confirmed what I was thinking or provided better ideas than I had.

Great job on your flier Ele! I love the contrast with the title, totally inspired. I love that you decided to do that when highlighting your text. It’s such a simple, but highly effective design. It’s so easy to find the information and it all makes sense as to where it is on the page. I also really like how you displayed the date, time and location.

Hi Ele,
I like your flyer design; you have done a fantastic work. I like the hierarchy of the elements, and how you have emphasized the most needed information. I like how the title and P-D-T get the first attention and how good they match with the photo. It is a smart choice you have separated the registration information and the logo from the other part of the content.
I another flyer project that got my attention is in the following link https://duf09003.wordpress.com/2016/01/24/project-1-flier-3/
I like the gray shape of the background in this flyer. When you have time, you may comment or like it.
Good luck with your future projects,
Fiorald
I really enjoyed your flier and creative process. I really liked how the title was the main attention grabber. The photo is a nice size that complements the title. Everything was really well spaced and lines up very well. I think it looks really good. Here is a link back to my blog

I really liked the overall appearance of your flier. I liked how the title was really big, because it grabbed my attention and informed about the main idea of the article. I think it would reach the audience you have intended it for. I also like how the picture is a really big size because it compliments the title. Great job!
Hi Ele,
I really enjoyed looking at your blog. Your flier looks nice, the message is really clear and it really called my attention. I love the date at the top of the flier, and also the web page to register in the event at the bottom . Also the logo you decided to use, it really match with all your flier. I can appreciate how you went designing by sections and it is clear the hierarchy in your project.

Hi Ele, I looked at your flyer, and what I saw was that your flyer looked at practical and organized at it could. Perfect job to me. I do like the word “conference” in black the way you have it. The DPT under neath it looked very thought out to me. Like it should have been there, like it was the best choice because it followed the logical flow of information. I thought it was organized and full of the basic info to get across a message. Really good job.
